HD Ferries (HD) today announced that it will suspend services on 6th November 2007 and resume services on Thursday 20th March. It will also bring forward the commencement of it's winter schedule to Monday 8th October, resulting in a reduced schedule. Commenting on this announcement, Chris Howe-Davies, CEO of HD Ferries says: "We feel compelled to take this action because of the incessant `dripping tap' of requests we have endured from the various `stakeholders' since we started that have made it so difficult for us to offer the standard of service we would like. We've decided the simplest way to put a stop to any more `issues' arising is to suspend our service and make all necessary preparations to return to service in March stronger and more determined than ever to bring choice and low fares to the travelling public. In the interim we intend to vigorously pursue a `level playing-field' that will allow us to compete on fair and equal terms when we return. We would like to offer our sincere apologies to our valued and loyal customers for the inconvenience this decision will inevitably cause. We are contacting the customers affected to offer alternatives services on HD Ferries, or to offer them a full refund. We would also like to thank our staff for their tireless efforts in difficult circumstances and who are obviously also affected by this decision."
