Jersey Harbours and HD Ferries are continuing to work closely to find a solution to re-instate the Ramp Permit to allow the ferry company to resume operations at the earliest possible opportunity. The loss of one engine and adverse weather conditions have caused a number of additional manoeuvring issues with the ferry, HD1. Following discussions held at an emergency meeting between Jersey Harbours, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Northern Marine and HD Ferries, in consultation with the Bahamas Maritime Authority, a way forward has been agreed. Over the next few days, the operating parameters and procedures for the vessel to operate with three engines will be revised and enhanced to the satisfaction of the Bahamas Maritime Authority, as agreed with the MCA. Economic Development Assistant Minister Deputy Maclean said: `I am delighted that discussions this morning were constructive and appear to have identified a way forward which should achieve the early resumption of the HD Ferries services.' HD Ferries Chief Executive, Chris Howe-Davies said: `We would like to apologise to our customers for the recent disruptions. I believe that as a result of the work being jointly carried out over the next few days we will have an even more robust service better able to cope with unplanned events and inclement weather conditions.'
