HD Ferries is very pleased to announce that the HD1 has now completed all her certification checks and has now set sail on all four engines from Portsmouth to Jersey. Over the past month we have successfully installed a new impellor in our fourth engine, completely overhauled two further engines and two generators and reconditioned all four water jets. Additionally, the HD1 steering hydraulics has been completely rebuilt and belting has been fitted to protect any external damage whilst moored in ports, particularly St Peter Port, Guernsey. The end result is a vastly improved vessel for the Channel Islands. HD1 is sailing across today with various port vehicles, tug masters, fork lift trucks and other equipment to support the HD Ferries freight operations. She will arrive into Jersey this evening and will commence her first sailing on Friday 28th March at 0715, with a full load between Jersey and St Malo. Responding to the good news, Chris Howe-Davies, CEO of HD Ferries says: "After a difficult month in refit I am very relieved that HD1 is now ready to begin service again! We have demonstrated our commitment to a more reliable service by spending over £1 million on her during the refit." "Again I want to thank all our loyal customers and staff for all their support and patience recently. HD Ferries is now back and running on all 4 engines and we are now all focused on delivering a safe, reliable, high speed, value for money service to our customers." "With Car+2 return fares from as low £88 we expect to grow the travelling market between the Channel Islands and France even further in 2008."
