HD Ferries Jersey Open Day - start time delayed to 1330
Wednesday 14th March
Due to a later departure time than expected from Guernsey, the Jersey Open day
will now run from 1330 - 1600 instead of the previously published time start time of 1200.
HD Ferries apologises for this late change to the time and hope that it does not cause
too much inconvenience to supporters of the new service. We look forward to welcoming
you onboard today in Jersey.

Yesterday the last condition for the HD Ferries ramp permit was fulfilled, following a successful joint inspection by
the UK MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) and the French MCA (equivalent). The ramp permit license is now being
produced and it will be
signed early next week in time of the first sailing from Jersey on Thursday 15th March at 0715.
This is excellent news for HD Ferries and all its customers!

HD Ferries believes this service will provide the "missing transport link" for customers wanting to travel between the Channel Islands and Paris.
The timetable enables HD Ferries customers arriving in St Malo at 0915 to catch the shuttle bus and then the fast TGV direct to Paris from St Malo at 1115.
Similarly those customers travelling to the Channel Islands can use the shuttle bus to catch the 0945 HD Ferries sailing to Jersey or Guernsey.

FREE Wireless Internet onboard for HD Ferries customers
Onboard communications have now been installed to allow any customer travelling on the HD1 with a laptop to connect to
the Internet at no cost. This provides a fantastic advantage compared to travelling by air particularly for business
customers, and combined with the fastest ferry connections available is another good reason to travel with HD Ferries.

Work is progressing well on the HD1, and the ramp was successfully installed on the back of her yesterday. As you can see it is pretty substantial to allow larger passenger vehicles and also freight.

1730 (UK Time)
The HD1 has now arrived in Portsmouth and work will begin to fit the ramp tomorrow. We will update the website with pictures and progress as it happens.
1300 (UK Time)
HD1 has called into Jersey and is now on berth at Guernsey. We have had great support from the local residents at each port - if you were there, thank you!
The HD1 will be leaving Guernsey in 30 minutes and is due to arrive into Portsmouth early this evening. She will stay there until 3rd March having her new ramp fitted.

0930 (UK Time)
Our first chance to open up the engines on the hd1 - we reached 47.5 knots and did the journey from St Malo to Jersey in 40 minutes! We will be in Jersey shortly.
Here are more photos of the HD1 from this morning.

2100 (UK Time)
The HD1 is currently 50 miles from the French Coast having crossed the Bay of Biscay at over 40 knots.
When the ship reaches the French Coast during the night, it will reduce engine speed in order to time it's arrival in St. Malo for 0800 hrs on Monday 19th February 2007. |
17 February 2007 |
2000 (UK time) We are making steady progress up the coast of Portugal with our plan to arrive in the Bay of Biscay around 1200 tomorrow.
Spirits are high onboard as we easily managed 38 knots out of the boat in fair big wave conditions and with our heavy load of fuel. The engineers on board think she has at least another 20% of speed in her - we will probably try for more tomorrow.
Below is the picture showing the size of the HD1 wake at 38 knots - quite impressive!

1230 (UK time) HD1 has now passed Tarifa and we are heading up the coast of Portugal. Waves are getting bigger but it is good to see the HD1 performing well in the rough seas!

The HD1 departed Gibraltar today at 10:05 am, UK Time.
Here are some pictures from the trip so far

15 February 2007 |
We are currently planning to leave Gibraltar on the HD1 on Saturday the 17th of February @ 12 noon. The HD1's final destination is Portsmouth, England where it will get its new ramp fitted before service.
On the way back we plan to sail past St Malo, Jersey and Guernsey to show off the ferry to the locals!
With good weather conditions forecast we hope to be in and around the Channel Islands Sunday/Monday. Keep checking back with us, via this link, for our progress!
All the crew will be wearing their new HD Ferries red overalls, with hdferries.com logos on the back!
Here are some great early pictures of the HD1 boat in between dry dock and painting, courtesy of a Spanish enthusiast named "Gibdan".
